About us

OUR STORY

Tourital was founded in the spring of 2015 by siblings Maria and Thomas Bergmann in Freiburg im Breisgau. The idea originated during a joint backpacking trip through Southeast Asia, when both
noticed how hard it was to find authentic travel experiences off the beaten path.

With a starting capital of 25,000 euros and a small office on Habsburgerstraße, the adventure began. The first customer was, by the way, Mr. Wilhelm Kessler from Emmendingen, who booked a three-week round trip.
through Vietnam – he travels with us every year to this day!

In 2017, we moved into our current office at Hauptstraße 42, right by the Freiburg main train station. In the same year, we won the "Goldener Kompass" from the German Travel Association for innovative travel concepts.

In 2019, we expanded our team to 8 employees and opened a branch in Konstanz on Lake Constance. The pandemic in 2020 hit us hard, but we used the time to expand our digital offerings.
- Today, customers can plan and book their entire trip online.

Since 2023, we are proud partners of "Futouris," the sustainability initiative of the German travel industry. We offset 100% of the CO2 emissions of all booked flights.

Maria Bergmann (Managing Director)
Maria is the heart of Tourital. She studied tourism management in Munich and speaks fluent German, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Her specialties are South America and the Caribbean. In

Thomas Bergmann (Managing Director)
Thomas is responsible for finance, IT, and partnerships. The business graduate previously worked for 5 years at a large travel operator in Hamburg. His favorite regions are Scandinavia and
Iceland. He is married and the father of twins.

Sandra Müller (Team Leader Consulting)
Sandra has been with us since 2017 and takes care of our most demanding clients. She has traveled to 47 countries and is our expert in luxury travel and honeymoon trips. She is known for her loving
compiled travel documents with handwritten tips.

Markus Weber (Asia Specialist)
Markus lived 3 years in Thailand and 2 years in Japan. He speaks Thai and Japanese at a conversational level. He is the right person for everything from Bali to Hokkaido. His insider tips for street food in
Bangkok is legendary.

Julia Hofmann (Europe & Mediterranean)
Julia knows every corner of the Mediterranean. Whether it's Greek islands, Italian coastal cities, or Croatian national parks – she always finds the perfect accommodation. Since 2022, she has also been organizing our
popular group trips for solo travelers.

Alexander Nowak (Adventure & Active Travel)
Alex is our man for adrenaline. Mountaineering in Nepal, rafting in Costa Rica, safari in Tanzania – when it gets sporty, he is the contact person. He is a certified mountain guide and diving instructor.

Elena Petrov (Cruises & River Cruises)
Elena joined us in 2021 and brought 10 years of experience from the cruise industry. She knows every ship from AIDA to Viking personally and finds the right deck and the best cabin for everyone.

Tobias Schmidt (Customer Service & Booking)
Tobias is the friendly voice on the phone. He handles bookings, takes care of rebookings, and is your contact person during the trip. His patience is inexhaustible – even at 10 PM on

Flight and hotel booking

Travel Insurance

Group travel
For clubs, companies, or friend groups of 10 or more people, we create customized group offers. Including free tour guide spots for groups of 20 participants or more.
